being honest

there are some days when i parent well, most days i don't.

(this is me being brutally honest.) i am selfish. i can be a selfish parent. i want time to myself everyday, i need time to myself everyday. but, in almost one month kyle will start school. he will be spending all day with another adult. someone else will hear his laugh. someone else will see his curious, determined mind try to solve a problem. someone else will teach him something new. and i will miss it.

this summer i have tried to do something fun and different with the boys in the afternoons while the girls sleep. i haven't done this nearly as often as i had intended. but when we do, we have fun. the clean up isn't always fun and sometimes i wish we had done something else but hopefully these are memories my boys will remember.
